Class style
Heels,all the way up.
Heels is the heart of Floorplay. Every heels class pairs real technique with choreography that feels good to dance, so you leave stronger, steadier, and a little louder than you walked in.
Upcoming heels classes
No heels classes on the schedule right now.
Technique first
Dancing in heels is a skill, and skills are built. Class starts with the foundations that make everything else look easy: how to walk with weight in your hips instead of your toes, how to turn without wobbling, how to hit a pose and hold it.
You will work your ankles, your core, and your lines. None of it is about looking a certain way. It is about control, so the sensual part comes from confidence instead of luck.
Then the choreography
Once the body is warm and the basics are fresh, you learn a routine in small pieces. Each piece gets drilled, then stitched to the last, until the whole thing flows with the music.
The last run is full out. Hair, attitude, eye contact with the mirror or with nobody at all. That is the moment you came for.
Choosing your heels
Stable beats sky high. A heel with an ankle strap and a thicker base keeps you balanced while you learn, and you can go higher as your ankles get stronger. Dance heels or a pair you already own both work.
Not ready for heels? Come in sneakers or bare feet for your first class and learn the movement first. The heels will still be there next time.
Where heels fits on the schedule
Heels classes run alongside floorwork, and many routines mix the two, so you move from standing to the floor and back without breaking the flow. If you are brand new, start with heels for beginners. Out of town? Look for an online heels class.
Questions
Do I need to own heels?
No. Come in sneakers or bare feet for your first class. When you are ready, a stable heel with an ankle strap is the easiest place to start.
Is heels dance only for experienced dancers?
Not at all. Every class starts with technique, so a first timer can follow along while an experienced dancer still has plenty to work on.
What should I wear with heels?
Anything you can move in and feel good in. Knee pads help when the routine goes to the floor.
Can I take a heels class from home?
Yes, when live classes are on the schedule. You dance along in real time from anywhere; see online heels classes.
How do I book a heels class?
Pick one on the schedule and book as a drop-in, with a class pack credit, or as a member.
